LAKE FOREST, ILL. — Trustmark Health Benefits, one of the nation’s largest independent employee health benefit administrators, has appointed Uday Deshmukh, M.D., as Vice President and Chief Medical Executive. Nancy Eckrich, President of Trustmark Health Benefits, made the announcement.
“I’m excited to welcome Dr. Deshmukh to Trustmark,” Eckrich said. “Under his leadership, I’m confident our healthcare management team will further engage members in their healthcare, provide expert help, advocacy and support when they are most in need. His medical expertise and background in public health will help us take a holistic approach in supporting our clients and their employees, improving outcomes as well as delivering savings.”
Deshmukh, who will also provide medical oversight for Trustmark’s other operating divisions (Voluntary Benefits, Small Business Benefits and HealthFitness), brings nearly 30 years of experience to Trustmark. Most recently, he served as Chief Medical Officer at HealthHelp in Houston, Senior Medical Director of Clinical Operations for Florida Blue and as a Senior Medical Director within Cigna Healthcare at Pittsburgh Health Facilitation Center.
Deshmukh holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi University, India. He also earned a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore.
He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a life member of the American Association for Physician Leadership.
