LAKE FOREST, Ill. – For the second consecutive September, Trustmark Voluntary Benefits will award the Trustmark Life Lessons Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded at this time of year because September is Life Insurance Awareness Month.
“This month is a prime opportunity to connect with people and help them understand the value of life insurance and how to secure the coverage they need,” said Voluntary Benefits’ Jennifer Daniels, Executive Director, Marketing. “We are excited to again offer a scholarship to a deserving student to help further their education.”
The Life Lesson Scholarship is awarded to a student who lost a parent and needs help paying for their education. The inaugural scholarship winner was Carolyn Yarborough, whose dad died while she was in high school.
Yarborough just began her freshman year of college where she will study Animation, Film, Photography and Motion Design.
“I really want to thank Trustmark because everything is coming together for me,” Yarborough said.
Throughout September, Voluntary Benefits’ sales teams will share stories and personal anecdotes about what life insurance means to them personally and how it helps support people in times of grief.
“Most people buy their insurance products and services through their employer,” said Jack Waldie, Regional Vice President. “It’s important to emphasize that insurance professionals in the employee benefit arena must be the ones to bring these offerings to their clients, especially the permanent products like Life with Long Term Care riders. The safety and ability to lock in the rate for a lifetime is incredibly important in one’s personal financial planning.”
