The adjectives flow easily for Jimmy Stoffer. He describes his life journey as blessed, fortunate, privileged and appreciative.
He exudes gratitude.
How does this square with a man whose father passed away suddenly while he was in college and whose first wife died following a tragic cycling accident?

Much of it is his optimistic nature and genuine curiosity and zest for life. But there’s another piece, too. A big one. While nothing will bring his dad and wife back, in each instance, life insurance provided him the time and resources to focus on what was most important – processing the loss with his family.
Presently, he pays that forward in his role here at Trustmark Voluntary Benefits. He sells life insurance because he believes in its value – he’s lived the benefit twice. He wants others facing loss in the future to have one less thing to worry about.
September is National Life Insurance Awareness month, but for Jimmy it is every month. Based in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, he is our Regional Sales Representative in the South Central Region.
“This is my passion,” he said. “I want to give as many people as possible the same protection and peace of mind I had.”
Jimmy first realized the importance of life insurance in his freshman year of college. This year is a milestone moment in personal development, the first time living away from home and making and living with your own decisions.
When his father died in the middle of the school year, it could have been the end of his education as he knew it. Fortunately, thanks to his father’s life insurance policy, Jimmy was able to stay in school. The policy also paid for his sister’s education. As a result, his college career was interrupted by the tragedy but not permanently derailed.
“I didn’t have to start a GoFundMe page and hope and pray for money,” he said. “It was true piece of mind. That’s something you can’t put a price on.”
In his early 30s, Jimmy lived through the nightmare of his wife’s death. Once again, a life insurance policy allowed him to focus on grieving instead of worrying about when he would return to work and how the time away would impact his ability to pay bills.
“There’s such an emotional toll losing a spouse,” he said. “I needed extended time away from work to recover. I was able to go to therapy and also celebrate my wife.”
No wonder then, given his own experiences, Jimmy focuses much of his work on life insurance. He takes particular pride in selling policies to those who need it most.
“At Trustmark, our products fill an important niche,” he said. “Our solutions truly help the blue-collar to working class people. Our products build cash value and provide additional piece of mind.”
And as Jimmy knows firsthand, there is no price tag for peace of mind.
He exudes gratitude.
