Intern at Trustmark and Discover Your Beyond

Real work that addresses business needs.
The chance to meet with Trustmark senior leaders, networking, community service opportunities and social events.

These examples are all staples of Trustmark’s paid 10-week summer internship program for students pursuing careers in Actuarial Science, Information Technology and Finance. This summer, the interns worked remotely, similar to many Trustmark associates.

“Whether internships take place in a physical office or virtually, internships provide invaluable, practical experience for college students who are preparing to start their professional careers and provide Trustmark with an ongoing pipeline of talent,” said Teri Hermes, HR Recruiting Manager.

Trustmark’s internship program began in 1993 and has expanded over the years. The current areas of focus are Actuarial, Finance and IT and we continue to evaluate areas to provide additional opportunities.

“We give them real work and coach them through it,” said Noah Kohn, Executive Director and Actuary. “It gives the interns real experience and helps us hire consistently from the intern program.”

Jordan Marks, Actuarial Associate, started at Trustmark in 2017 after interning the previous summer.

“Trustmark gave me everything I needed to succeed and I like the balance between work and home life,” he said. “I also liked that actuaries would have lunch together and play card games every day. It was great to find a group of peers like that.”

Ankit Patel was hired in IT infrastructure following his internship in 2018.

“I learned so much,” he said. “In addition to the IT side, I gained a lot of business knowledge that helped me immensely.”

"The CEO took time out of his day to talk with us and answer questions. That’s a unique opportunity and it made me feel like Trustmark cares about the interns and wants them to have the best possible experience.”

Hope Reband, University of Alabama, Finance Intern

“I had a lot of opportunities to do interesting work and show how I could apply what I learned. It was very beneficial to see the kind of work that actuaries actually do as opposed to just learning about it in a classroom. I liked the welcoming company culture and friendly environment which made for a great experience.”

Tom Leinart interned at Trustmark in 2019 and was hired as an Actuarial Analyst.

“At Trustmark I’ve had the opportunity to build a network right off the bat and feel like I’m using my skills. People want my perspective and are genuinely interested in what I have to say. I feel as though my voice definitely can be heard.”
